Every September we work to get our current members to renew and attract new members to the cause of Slow Food: good, clean, and fair food for all. As you may have heard, we are very proud that our chapter, Slow Food East End, is the most active in the country. Continuing to grow our membership is important for bringing a full spectrum of lived experiences together so that we can truly and equitably rebuild the table.
As a chapter of Slow Food USA, we are part of a driving force for change at the local, national, and international levels. Our very active and committed membership makes this change possible and continually helps us support our community transitioning out of the pandemic. We can only rebuild this table together. We need more people to join our movement to unite the joy of food with the pursuit of justice. Please consider becoming a member today.
Here’s what we accomplished this past year with the support of our members:
- Developed an Agricultural Outreach program and donated over $15,000 to farms, restaurants, fishers, and producers struggling with the effects of the pandemic on their business.
- Initiated Flour Power to enlist members of the community to provide home-baked bread to local food pantries.
- Worked with the Butterfly Effect Project in Riverhead to establish a Community Garden which joins the 30 school gardens on the North and South Forks.
Won’t you join us as we do bigger and better things in the next year?
As a thank you bonus to our new and renewing members if you renew or sign up during our annual membership drive in the month of September, you’ll be gifted with a Slow Food East End T-shirt (as pictured below!!) AND you’ll also be entered into a raffle with the chance to win a basket case of local wines!
Be sure to select East End as your chapter when you sign up!
